As you may already know, on November 5, I will be leaving Hammett & Edison in lovely Sonoma for the FCC in Washington DC. My new job
will actually be a homecoming for me, since I worked for the FCC from
1984 until 1993, including several years in Washington. As with any
Government job, I get an official title, which is "Physical Scientist." The position is as the agency expert in human exposure to non-ionizing
radiation, a field that I've been involved with for some time. This
is a very interesting opportunity at the intersection of research and
policy, and I look forward to increasing my knowledge in that area.
Those of you that work with the FCC should know that I am stepping
into Bob Cleveland's former position.
The timing for the new job is less than ideal, with my son in the
middle of his Junior year in High School. The current plan is for
him to remain in Sonoma for the remainder of the school year with my
better half, and follow me east next Summer. We'll see if that plan
works out....
I do not yet have an official e-mail or phone, but my personal e-mail
and phone will remain the same for now.
