Subject: Status Report on Power Feed Upgrades
Well, everything seemed to go pretty well last Tuesday from our
perspective. I hope that the outages that day (briefly for the previously
converted customers and longer for the customers being converted that day)
didn't have too much of an impact on everyone up there. Thanks again for
all of your understanding.
I just talked with my construction manager, and here's our game plan
going forward as we currently understand it (though of course you know that
even the best laid plans are subject to change):
o The crews will be working on some switching and rearrangements of the
existing 4kV circuitry and installing/connecting some other segments of the
16kV circuitry for the next few business days. This work requires NO
planned outages to any of the services up there.
o On Wednesday, July 26, we will be converting both of the NBC services
(which apparently will likely also affect KFI, SES Americom, Lodestar
Towers, and anyone else that happens to be fed off of those two services).
As with previous conversions, the outage should begin first thing in the
morning (~7-8am) and last through most of the day.
o On Thursday, July 27, we will be converting the major American Tower
service (which apparently will likely also affect KOCE, KJLA, Ch 50, Ch 51,
Ch 56, Ch 57, and anyone else on that service). The outage times will
likely be similar to what I just described for the NBC conversion.
o Then more switching, pulling/installing cable, & other preparatory
work for another few business days, again without any planned outages to
any customers.
o Probably on Thursday, August 3, (though it might be a day or two
earlier if the previous item gets done faster than expected) we plan to
convert the four transformer banks that serve the group of customers near
the "Post Office" building (which includes SBC, Ch 22, Ch 56, KBIG, Poole
Properties, KAZA, KDOC, and anyone else on those facilities).
o Finally, we're shooting for Tuesday, August 8, to finish off the
job by converting the services at KABC, Ch 46, & Ch 34.
o A few more days of clean-up work after that, and we're done and out
of there!
That's about it for now. If anything significant changes, I'll let you
know. Thanks!
